CUSTOMER PERFORMANCES DEPLOYMENT - PROCESS

VEHICLE CUSTOMER PERFORMANCES - COMMON DATA
To understand what customers really need, explain it to engineers when developing a new car and eventually get a competitive product, it is necessary to go through the process of deploying customer performances.

This process consists of the following steps.
The choice of analog cars. It is decided which cars in the market the new car will compete with.
Setting goals for customer performances at levels 1 and 2. Such goals are set as above average, on average, below average. Based on the analysis of market needs, it is decided with which properties the new car will compete. It takes into account the planned launch date of car sales and trends in the development of consumer properties. At this stage, it is being decided which properties will be a unique selling point – how the car will clearly outperform its competitors.
The study of analog cars and setting goals for levels 3 and 4. The customer performances of levels 3 and 4 are subjectively evaluated and then set for a new car, taking into account the goals for level 2 and the results of the evaluation of analogues.
The result of the work done is that a CPC (customer performances contract) has been formed – a technical specification for a car in subjective terms (for example, it should be above average in ergonomics and at an average level in driving characteristics).
The study of analog cars with measurements. Measurements of accelerations, fuel consumption, steering wheel forces, braking distance, cabin capacity parameters, luggage compartment volume, etc. are carried out. – Measurements of analogues at level 5.
Setting and coordinating goals for level 5. Goals for level 5 are set and coordinated with engineers in accordance with the set goals for levels 3 and 4 and the measurement results obtained. At this stage, it is possible to adjust goals due to design and technological constraints, stylistic solutions, and budget constraints. When some requirements are lowered, other requirements are usually tightened in order to have an advantage over competitors.
The result of the work done is a CPC-d (detailed customer performances contract) - a technical specification for a car with measurable goals.
Detailed design study. The design of components and parts is being worked out and coordinated with the production, setting goals for levels 6 (component parameters) and 7 (part parameters). At this stage, it is possible to slightly adjust the goals at level 3, but on a smaller scale. Renegotiations can last up to the prototype production stage, and sometimes, but on a very small scale, up to the mass production stage. But this is rather an exception.
As a result of the work done, DD - design documentation for the car has been developed.
